Math 361 - Abstract Algebra II

Credits: 3

Course Description: Introduction to ring and field theory. Topics include: commutative rings, ideals, integral domains, polynomial fields, the theory of extension fields, vector spaces, Galois groups, and the fundamental theorem of Galois theory. Applications include insolvability of certain higher degree polynomials, and other topics as time permits.

Pre-Requisites: MATH 360.

Frequency: Course is offered in the spring only.
